Ash's life has been far from normal over the past couple of months. In the span of one week, she had gone from Wage Slave college student to The Chosen One to slay the Deadite Army and everything after that seemed to be a spin off.

Figures as much. You have one traumatic incident in an abandoned cabin and life keeps throwing punches at you. Including losing your hand and a sudden trip back to 1300.

But hey, there were plus sides. Like finding the love of your life when you accidentally tripped in the supply closet.

Of course, Sheila doesn't know that.

"You never got to ride in my car, did you?"

Ash listens to her tapping as she turns out of the parking lot and heads for the more 'scenic' route back to her place.

And by scenic, she means longer.

"Looks different, huh?"

"Oh yes," she replies, nodding earnestly. "This is all so very different. Thine castles are quite small. But not as small as huts. And there are no forests? Or even trees?" There she goes attempting to stick her head out the window again as things go by, only being stopped short by the seat belt around her waist.

"Don't do that!" Ash says, reaching over and pulling her arm. "Sticking your head out the window of a moving car is not really a good idea."

"There's forests, but you have to go a little ways out of town for one."

Sheila bites her bottom lip, frowning as she settles inside the car again. "'msorry, m'lady."

Ash sighs and purses her lips. "I just don't want you getting hurt, okay?"

"I understand, Ashley," she replies, still looking rather dejected. "I must remember how to act accordingly. I cannot let myself get too overexcited."

Ash looks at her steering wheel as the pull up to a stoplight, feeling kind of guilty now. "You can still get a little excited."

She looks out the windshield again and back at Sheila. "You hungry?"

"Alright." She nods. "I shall be a little excited. This will surely take a lot of getting used to..."

She glances over at her, giving a sheepish smile. "Oh no. It feels as if there are butterflies milling about mine stomach, m'lady. I dare not eat a thing."

Ash could say the same thing, but she's not going to admit it. "Well, I'm starving. I ended up having to skip lunch today due to being stuck in a supply closet."

"Please, m'lady. Do not let me stop thee. If thou art hungry, thou art hungry."

Ash nods as she pulls into the nearest fast food place she can find and around to the drive thru. "If you thought the car was trippy, this is really going to blow your mind..."

"What exactly, m'lady?" she asks, glancing around.

Before Ash can answer, the speaker crackles to life. "Hello, may I take your order?"

"Number 4, no onions please," Ash says, not even looking at the menu. She's done this before.

There's a pause before the voice goes "Four eighty six. Please drive around."

"Thanks," says Ash, before she casts a glance over at Sheila.

Really.

Because Sheila doesn't understand a bit of it.

Ash tries her best not to start laughing as she drives around. "I'll explain radios to you later."

"...Is this how one prepares food?" she asks, staring at her. "And what is a radio? Was it that contraption?"

"Only if you're living the bachelorette lesbian life like I am and can't cook to save your own life."

She suddenly realizes she let the 'L' word drop, but she ignores her feeling to facepalm as she hands a fiver to the clerk at the window.

"A radio is a way of communication. Involves waves and such and makes you hear what a person is saying even if you're not in the same room."

"Thou art from the Isle of Lesbos?" She's being dead serious when she asks this. Because she doesn't know any better. And she's never met anyone from Lesbos before. Both literally and figuratively.

Ash pauses as she lets the question sink in. "Something like that..."

Thankfully, the clerk hands Ash her change and her food, so she can start driving again. It doesn't make this awkwardness go away though.

"Thou art full of surprises," Sheila happily replies, giving her a smile. "Dare I ask what else thou art hiding from me!" She laughs.

Ash breathes a silent sigh of relief. She can hold off that one for a while.

I love you. "Well, what do you want to know?" asks Ash as she reaches into the bag for a french fry.

She can't help but lean toward the driver's seat in order to peer inside the bag from the radio and the young man at the window. Whatever it is, it smells delicious.

"What is this food thou hast found? Potatoes?" She'll ask the hard-hitting questions when she gets to them.

"French fried potatoes," Ash says with a grin as she takes a bite out of one. "And a double cheeseburger."

French potatoes really?

She slinks a hand toward the bag and snatches a fried thing from inside. Then she holds it in front of her face, examining with some skepticism.

After a moment, Sheila takes an experimental bite. And chews. And thinks it tastes wonderful.

Ash doesn't mind sharing the fries so much. It's the burger she's going to be protective of.
